It’s a lesson NBA star Matt Barnes has learnt the hard way, after his comments about the status of his relationship with RiRi went down decidedly badly with the lovely lady herself.
It all started when Matt, 35, spoke to TMZ about rumors that he was dating 27-year-old Rihanna, initially claiming that it’s all just gossip.
However, he went on to say: “Rihanna is my friend right now, so we’ll see where it goes. It just passed the crush stage a little bit. Just a little bit though.”
He was then asked whether the long-distance would be an issue when he moves to Memphis, to which he responded: “Nah, she’s rich. We’ll be all right.”
Unfortunately for Matt, RiRi saw the interview and it’s safe to say she wasn’t exactly thrilled about it.
Hinting that the two have never even met (awkward), RiRI shared a screenshot from the interview on her Instagram, captioning it with a bunch of hashtags.
