The
newly appointed Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umaru Danbatta, has
resumed duty in acting capacity at the commission.
Danbatta,
who assumed duty on Friday at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja,
promised to tackle issues pertaining to the quality of service in the
industry very seriously.
The CEO,
while addressing a cross section of staff of the NCC, said he will
bring his experience to bear in confronting the challenges in the
telecom industry in Nigeria.
Danbatta,
in a statement from the commission, reportedly said, “I want to pledge
that I will bring to bear my wealth of experience in tackling the issue
of quality of service in order to meet the expectations of the public
that we are serving.
“We will
judiciously use the resources of the commission to ensure that we
maintain this position in a manner that will enhance the image and
prestige of the NCC as well as serve as a reminder to government on the
important role that this agency can play in improving the GDP.”
The new NCC boss was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
