A chief of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Dr. Femi
Majekodunmi, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of
the party for the peaceful resolution of the leadership crisis in the
House of Representatives.
He said this in a statement on Friday in Abeokuta, stating that the
amicable settlement of the leadership tussle showed the party as one
that could solve its crisis no matter how big.
Majekodunmi commended the wisdom of the National Chairman, Chief John
Odigie-Oyegun; National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu; members of the
Board of Trustees and National Working Committee, who played fatherly
roles in resolving the crisis.
He said, “With the leadership role of the President and other
leaders, they succeeded in making the warring camps demonstrate deep
sense of patriotism, wisdom and maturity by finally arriving at a
workable compromise.
“What the party has been able to prove is that compromises are
hallmarks of any political issue. The time has come for politicians to
always take the country first in all they do as any office is nothing
but an opportunity to serve the people.
“With
the peaceful resolution of the crisis in the House of Representatives,
Buhari has once again proved that he has what it takes, with the other
leaders of the party, to put the party on a sound footing such that it
will continue to be a shinning example for other political parties to
emulate.
“While it is indisputable that crisis cannot be ruled out of any
democratic process, the gladiators have been able to agree that they are
elected to serve the people and thus must at all times engage in
compromise to resolve any crisis.”
Majekodunmi, a medical practitioner, who is also the Baagbile of
Egbaland, added that with an end to the crisis, the ruling party “is
poised to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the teeming
Nigerians that voted for it.”
