Akungba-Akoko regent’s abductors demand N20million ransom

Bearly 48 hours after she was abducted, suspected kidnappers of the regent of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Princess Toyin Omosowon have demanded the sum of N20m as ransom to guarantee her release.

Besides, the Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU) located in the community has been closed down indefinitely because of the development, which involved an official of the institution and the monarch.
Akungba-Akoko residents were in pensive mood yesterday when our correspondent visited the community.

Normal academic and commercial activities were at lowest-ebb.
A Community Leader and Seriki of Akungba-Akoko, Chief A. Awesu urged youths to conduct themselves with decorum and embrace peace during this trying time.
According to him, they should pray alongside elders in the town to facilitate quick release of the regent from captivity.
Interdenominational prayer sessions were going on at churches and mosques within the community, while a detachment of police officers drafted to the area were patrolling the town to ensure safety of lives and property.
