School sends home 152 pupils in ONE DAY because they all turned up in uniform that did not meet strict new rules

Hanson Academy in Bradford, West Yorkshire, strictly enforced a new dress code on Tuesday and almost 10 per cent of its pupils failed to meet the standards, sparking criticism from parents. Mason Beaumont, 14, (pictured with his mother Lindsay Stansfield, left) was sent home for having the wrong shoes. But headteacher Elizabeth Churton (right) says the uniform regime prepares students for the world of work and is a 'scaffolding' for academic improvement.

The school has produced an online guide for parents, with pictures showing what type of shoes are correct and incorrect, and outlining what jewellery and coats are now banned.
