Nigeria’s 6000 illegal borders used to smuggle in weapons – NATFORCE

As the nation marches towards the 2015 general elections, the National Task Force on Illegal Importation of Small Arms and Light Weapons, NATFORCE, has sounded the alarm over the increasing number of illegal borders, which it noted has reached 6000.

NATFORCE, therefore, warned that the routes were currently being used to smuggle dangerous weapons into the country.

The Director-General of NATFORCE, Mr. Emmanuel Osita Okereke, who expressed this concern during an interview with journalists in Abuja, however, assured that his organization was willing to partner with security operatives in the country in protecting the borders.

As regards the current security challenges ravaging parts of the North East, the DG urged President Goodluck Jonathan to check the allegiance of his service chiefs and advisers.

This was as he alleged that security chiefs and those advising the president on security matters may have been sabotaging his resolve to stamp out terrorism in the area.
