Atiku made the plea when he visited the state yesterday to woo delegates ahead of the party’s primaries in December.
“I know you have a candidate so if you vote for Kwankwaso he is our own but if you vote for me I’m also your man for long,” the former vice-president said.
Atiku said they would ensure that the party defeats the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s presidential election.
Speaking while meeting with the delegates at Africa House, Kano Government House, Atiku revealed that all the four APC presidential aspirants had promised to accept any person that eventually emerges as presidential candidate of the party.
He emphasised that they also agreed not to slight one another during their respective campaigns.
He maintained that Kano State was his second home and would be very happy if the APC forms the central government rather than opposition party.
Speaking earlier, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, appreciated Atiku for visiting the state, even though a son of Kano State was aspiring for same position.
Doguwa pointed out that the state has over 400 eligible delegates to participate in the APC primary election.
Meanwhile, Atiku while in Sokoto tuesday, restated that anyone who emerges as the party’s candidate would be duly supported by other aspirants ahead of 2015 election.
Speaking shortly after a closed-door meeting with stakeholders of the party in Sokoto, Atiku said this was what was agreed upon by all the aspirants during one of their meetings and they would stand by it.
He stated that his visit to the state was simply to interact with party faithful on the state of the party, stressing that the presidential aspirants of the APC had resolved to support whosoever wins the primary.
“First of all, I came to pay a courtesy call on the governor, but earlier on, I had a meeting with our party members in an interactive session.
“It was simply on the state of the party and the forthcoming primaries. So far, the primary is coming up and we have various committees all over the state, including the screening committee,” he said.
He also ruled out the emergence of APC presidential candidate through a consensus arrangement, saying there must be primaries.
Abubakar, who was in Sokoto on his nation wide support seeking tour, also doled out millions to members of the party.
At the meeting which was held at the presidential lodge one, the former vice-president was said to had given each of the over 50 delegates N50,000 and N5 million to the state secretariat of the party.
The former vice-president also gave N1 million to the elders of the party in the state to share.
