Former 'American Idol' Contestant Joanne Borgella Dies at 32

Former "American Idol" contestant Joanne Borgella died early Saturday morning of complications stemming from cancer. She was 32.

"With heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Joanne," her family revealed in a Facebook post, adding, "Her faith, courage and strength were unshaken throughout every obstacle she encountered. Although our family is suffering with this great loss, we find comfort in the closeness Joanne shared with the Lord."

Borgella chronicled her battle with cancer on her Facebook page, posting updates about chemotherapy sessions and visits to the doctor.

Borgella, who grew up in Long Island and most recently resided in Hoboken, New Jersey, had endometrial cancer, which affects the inner lining of the uterus. It later spread to her chest. She was diagnosed last year. On Sept. 23 a post revealed that she underwent two radiation procedures and now she's dead may her gentle soul rest in peace!!!
